I just made a really nice birthday card for my friend but my mum thinks it's crap. Help me!?

Except instead of using yellow paper I used white paper and the card is blue. I'll just quickly describe it incase youtube doesn't work on your computer: So the card is blue and when you open it up a large lotus flower pops up. Kind of like opening a lantern. The flower is white (I used white printer paper to make it becuase I only had one coloured sheet of paper). My friend is indian but she's not that huge and protective about indian culture and when I finished making the card I showed it to my mum and she immidietly said: It's a white flower. Don't give it to anyone. and I asked why and she had a huge rant about how white flowers mean death and birthday cards are never white and so on. Then she said that she rather me chuck it out now than give it to one of my friends. I'm really angry with my mum and she told me to colour it in and I can't becuase (if u looked at the clip) it pops up too much and it'll look like a tornadoe hit it if i coloured it in. So then I outlined the petals with gold gitter glue and now she said it looks worse. like wtf (sorry guys i just had to swear). It's just a birthday card for my besite and it took me a while to make. I don't even think my bestie will be offended and if she is i'll check beforehand if shes really really really religious before i give the card to her. My mum is still ranting and I'm currently hating her for it. Should I just chuck it out now (and make my mum feel guilty) or give it to my friend? Any other suggestions? Any scenarios that may happen? Please help.
